Polku, Path  2016

Polku means Footpath in Finnish language. Nathalie Lautenbacher´s unique bowls are hand decorated with subtile, tiny dots. The traces create like a random track on the surface of the objects - sometimes heading straight forward, on other parts shifting to one side or another.

" I started playing with dots many years ago, imitating clumsily sewn textile stitches. They started to create tracks. It reminds me walking in the forest, sometimes on footpaths, sometimes wandering about sideways. On the objects it seems like someone has wandered here, looking a bit hazardly for something…”
